Lance History

Philip Lance began selling roasted peanuts for a nickel a bag in Charlotte in 1913. Lance was founded in 1913 by Phillip L. Lance in Charlotte, NC. In 1916, with his wife and daughter, he began offering roasted peanuts and hand-packed peanut butter spread on crackers for customers to sample. This led to the first packaged peanut butter sandwich cracker.

Since its establishment, Lance has earned a loyal consumer demand that allows the company to continue to innovate and grow.
